The person who would always know his address was his wife, Mrs Verla Mabie, at the same address. He was White, 5' 8", 168 pounds, had brown eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion.

- Mrs. Belle Mabie, wife of Emmet Mabie, passed away at the family home in South Valley, Wednesday morning at 6 p. m. after a short illness.
She was born December 18, 1872 at Middlesex,. N. Y., a daughter of Aaron and Melissa Van Bussum, and was. married October 1, 1901, to Emmet Mabie.
Survivors, beside Mr. Mabie, are five children, Mrs. Maurice Stroebeck, Johnstown; Mrs. Norman Croft, Oneonta ; Pfc. Leslie . Mabie, stationed somewhere in Greenland; Mrs. Lester Mott and Fred Mabie, South Valley; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs.
Louise Johnson, Canadaigua, and Mrs. Elsie Warner, Springfield, Mass., and a brother, Charles Van Bussum, of Newark. N. Y., beside a host of friends who will mourn the loss of a true friend. She was a devoted member of the Christian church; and faithful in her attendance arid helpfulness in the neighborhood to the last.
Her funeral was held from the church Saturday at 2 p. m., her pastor, the Rev; Myron Tripp, officiating.
Interment took place in the family plot of the local cemetery. Supervisor, Homer Thompson, L. D. Hansen, Dorson Jones and Clarence Marks acted as bearers.
The flowers were beautiful and attested the esteem in. which she was held.
Relatives attended the funeral from Oneonta, Springfield, Mass., Johnstown, Amsterdam and Cooperstown

- PFC Leslie W. Mabie, aged 34, former resident, reported lightly wounded in action February 24, in Germany, in a War Department wire received Friday by his sister, Mrs. Helen (Maurice) Strobeck, 107 Burton street, was killed on that date, according to a second wire that came yesterday morning.
He was born at South Valley October 11, 1910, son of Emmett Mabie and the late Belle Van Bussum.
He lived there until about six years ago when he came to this city to accept a position with Corlette-Managun Motors, Inc., and while here made his home for three years or more with his sister, later returning to South Valley.
While here he registered for Selective Service and left with a draft contingent from District 880 (Johnstown and the towns) in January, 1943. He received his baste training as Fort Edwards, Mass., and in July of that year went to Greenland, where he remained nearly one year.
Upon returning to the states, his outflt was stationed for a time at Camp Davis, N. C, later at Riverdale,
Cal.., then in Texas, and left the country a second time In November, 1944, this time for the European theatre of war.
In one of the last letters received by his sister, written in Belgium, hs said he had been at the front and was then in a rest camp behind the lines. He was attached to the 84th Division.
The survivors, in addition to the sister here, are his father, one brother. Feed, of South Valley; two other sisters, Mrs. Lester Mott of South Valley, and Mrs. Norman Craft, of Oneonis; also several nephews and nieces

- Emmett A. Mabie, aged 89, of South Valley, died November 4 at the Joslyn Nursing Home in Cobleskill. He. was born July 4, 1872, at South Valley, the son of Washington and Tenetta (Hoyt) Mabie. He married Belle VanBussun on October 1, 1900. She died in 1943. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the First Christian Church o£ South Valley and served as a trustee and deacon for many years.
Surviving are a son, Fred of South Valley; three daughters, Mrs. Maurice Strobeck of Johnstown, Mrs. Lester Mott of South Valley, and Mrs. Percy Palmater of Oneonta; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday from the Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Myron Tripp of Cherry Valley, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eugene Kellogg, pastor of the First Christian Church of South Valley. Burial was in South Valley Cemetery.
