- ED. J. MAYBEE DIES SUDDENLY
Stricken With Heart Failure In Chicago Last Sunday and Buried Here Wednesday
The many friends of Edmund J. Maybee were shocked, Monday morning, to learn of his sudden death from rheumatism, of the heart, last Sunday evening in Chicago. He and Mrs. Maybee were at a park when Mr. Maybee felt the attack coming on. They started home and had nearly arrived there, when Mr. Maybee fell and he was dead, before help could reach him. The body was brought to Laclede and the funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church, of which he was a member, Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. He was an honored member of the Masonic Fraternity and the local order had charge of the funeral services. Interment was made in Laclede Cemetery. Although born in Canada, Mr. Maybee spent most of his life in Laclede, where he was engaged in business for many years. Here, he raised his family, two Boys, Harry and Roy, who with the Wife and one Brother, George W., survive him and have the deepest sympathy of the entire community. For several years he had been General Sales Manager, for the Newman Bros. Piano Company and lived in Chicago. He married "Fannie" Pierce, May 26, 1872, to which union, were born two Children, Harry E. Nov. 20, 1873, and Roy J., Nov. 30, 1880. He was a resident of this city for more than thirty years, his Mother and Father, both having died here and been buried in Laclede Cemetery.
