- Frank L. Mabie, 87, of 711 Wisconsin, lifelong Rock County resident, died at his home [in Beloit] Thursday after a long illness.
Mr. Mabie had been employed 32 years at the Janesville General Motors plant before retiring some time ago, and also was a retired farmer. He was a well-known horse breeder, trainer of pacers and trotters and a member of Trotters Hall of Fame.
He was born Dec. 16, 1889, in Magnolia township, Rock County, and received his education at Evansville Seminary. He was married to Florence McGraw April 10, 1919, in Rockford.
Mr. Mabie was long active in baseball leagues, a member of Beloit Old-Timers Baseball Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; seven sons, Richard, Janesville, Jackson and Robert, Beloit, Bernard, Milwaukee, Leslie, Stoughton, Dennis, Clinton, and Frank, Dallas, Tex.; eight daughters, Mrs. James Glackin, Mrs. Dave Robinson and Mrs. Charlene Olson, all of Janesville, Mrs. Arthur Witt, Edgerton, Edgerton, Mrs. Nancy Schmidt, Beloit, Mrs. Richard Schultz and Mrs. Virginia Walters, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Eugene Tomaszewski, Milwaukee.
Also surviving are 43 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Mabie, Albany; three sisters, Beatrice Mabie and Mrs. Myrtle Halverson in California, and Mrs. Nellie Stadel, Las Vegas, Nev.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday in Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Cranston Road Chapel, with burial in Juda Cemetery.

- Jeannette G. Mabie, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation with her family by her side. She was born in Eastman, on Dec. 7, 1922, the first of six children to George and Bessie (Stagman) Stluka. Jean graduated from Seneca High School. She moved to Beloit, and worked for the phone company. Jean met her future husband while she was working at Fairbanks & Morse. On Aug. 17 1946, Jean married Leslie Mabie. In 1957, they settled in Stoughton, and enjoyed farming their land. Jean was a member for First Lutheran Church and was active in her church circle for over 40 years. She enjoyed volunteering for various organizations including Stoughton Hospital and Stoughton Jr. Fair, where she entered several pie baking, crafting, and working projects.
Jean is survived by her husband, Les; two sons, Stanley and Rick (Laura) Mabie; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty Ronde, Michael Stluka, Gloria (Bob) Van Elverdinghe, and Wayne (Jean) Stluka; many nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bernita (Warren) Matthews; brother-in-law, Gordon Ronde; and sister-in-law, Donna "Boots" Stluka.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 12 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton.

- Leslie R. Mabie, age 92, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Nazareth Health & Rehabilitation. He was born in Brodhead, on Dec. 17, 1921, the son of Frank and Florence Mabie. Les graduated from Edgerton High School, where he was active in Boxing, Football and Track. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country in the 294th Joint Assault Signal Corps, the first group to arrive on Omaha Beach, Normandy, in 1944. Les was honorably discharged in 1945, and returned to WI. While working at Fairbanks Morse building diesel motors, he met his future bride. On Aug. 17, 1946, Les married Jeannette Stluka. In 1957, they settled in Stoughton, and enjoyed farming their land. Les was a member of First Lutheran Church and active on the church dart league. He enjoyed bowling for over 45 years, going to the fair, especially Stoughton, Dane County and Walworth, and racing his horses.
Les is survived by his two sons, Stanley and Rick (Laura) Mabie; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Mary Sue) and Denis Mabie; five sisters: Mary Tomaszweski, Martha Rinker, Charlene Olson, Joyce Kinzer and Nancy Schmit; sister-in-law, Virginia Mabie; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeannette; three sisters: Jean Glackin, Nettie Witt and Virginia Walters; and six brothers: Bernard, Jackson, Frank, Robert, Darrell, and Jerry Mabie.
Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with Rev. Jerry Pribbenow officiating.
