- Bertha E. Neiholz, widow of Hanson D. Mabie, died Tuesday morning at her home on Upper Steadwell Ave.
A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, she was born in this city Aug. 13, 1881, a daughter of Henry and Katherine Reinhardt. Neiholz, and was married to Mr. Mabie Feb. 5, 1908. Mr. Mabie died Nov. 12, 1957.
Mrs. Mabie and her husband were among the organizers of 4-H Club work in Montgomery County and last 'year she was presented a citation for her many years of. service to the 4-H Clubs of the county. Also interested in grange work, she was a member of Scattergood Grange, 1514, of Hagaman, Montgomery County Pomona Grange and the state and national granges. She was a member of t h e Valley View Home Bureau and the Auxiliary of the
Fort Johnson Fire Dept.
Mrs. Mabie was a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, but attended the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, David H. Mabie, Canajoharie; two daughters. Mrs. Richard McVedder and Miss Maerian Mabie, Amsterdam, slx-grandchildren, Miss Renee Mabie and Karl Hanson Mabie, Canajoharie, Miss Shannon Vedder and Richard Lee Vedder, Amsterdam, Robert Johnson Mabie, Cobleskill, and David Wayne Mabie Ellenburg Depot; also several cousins

- Karl H. Mabie, 55, of Fulton, formerly of Marshville, died Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Born April 9, 1947 in Amsterdam, he was the son of David and Mary Bowerman Mabie. He was a 1965 graduate of Canajoharie High School.
For over 30 years, Mr. Mabie worked as an over-the-road truck driver until becoming the Sidekit Division Northeast Regional Coordinator for Werner Enterprises based out of Omaha, Neb.
He was an avid NASCAR, Winston Cup Division, and NASCAR modified division race fan. He was also a Mapletown Subordinate, Pomona and NYS Grange member.
Surviving are his mother, Mary B. Mabie of Marshville; two sons, Donald Mabie of Hamilton and Kyle Mabie of Hagaman; a daughter, Lauren Mabie of Hagaman; two brothers, D. Wayne Mabie of Ballston Lake and Robert Mabie of Gloversville; a sister, Renee Merolli of Douglas, Mass.; a grandson; a step-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held Sunday at the Marshville Evangelical Church, Marshville, with the Rev. Robert Dievendorf officiating.
Interment will take place in the Ames Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours.

- Mary B. Mabie, 86, of Marshville Rd. passed away Saturday evening at the Milford Whitinsville Regional Hospital in Milford, Massachusetts after a brief illness. She was the last surviving child of Silas Gifford and Sarah Ketchum Bowerman and was born in Canajoharie on November 2, 1917. Mrs. Mabie was employed as head cashier and bookkeeper for the Victory Market in Canajoharie and later for Beechnut Mfg., before she retired in 1972. She then went on to serve as a home health aide. Active in church and civic endeavors, she was Sunday school teacher and treasurer for over thirty years at the Marshville Evangelical Church.
A member of the Mapletown Grange for over seventy years, she served on the New York State and National Granges as lady assistant steward and chairperson of the State Women's Committee. For twenty years, she was the assistant superintendent of the Grange exhibits at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. For thirty-five years she was a member and past matron of the Otsquago Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Years ago, Mrs. Mabie was past president of the Canajoharie Parents and Teachers Association.
Her love for her family, birds, flowers and sewing and crocheting is how she will be remembered.
On January 2, 1937, she was united in marriage to David H. Mabie, a union that lasted for fifty years before he passed away in 1987. Her son, Karl Mabie, also predeceased her in 2002.
Survivors include her children, D. Wayne Mabie (Brenda) of Ballston Lake, Robert J. Mabie of Gloversville and
Renee Merolli of Douglas, MA: eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Marshville Evangelical Church, the
Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lenz and Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m.
Spring burial is in the Ames Cemetery.

- Wayne Mabie, 67, died on August 15, 2005 at his home on West Side Drive in Ballston Lake. Born in Amsterdam (New York) on October 30, 1937, the son of David and Mary Bowerman Mabie, Wayne was a graduate of Canajoharie H.S. and SUNY at Cobleskill. He was a member of the Zeta Alpha Phi Fraternity. Following school, he held varies (sic) school lunch director positions prior to serving in the U.S. Army as an Army specialist and sharpshooter. He later received his bachelor's degree from Empire State College. He married Brenda Quick on June 27, 1964 in Kerhonkson, N.Y. The couple moved to Ballston Lake in 1968. Mr. Mabie taught at SCCC and FMCC as a certified culinary educator. As an adjunct professor, Mr. Mabie retired from Albany VOTECH Center in 2000. Wayne was beloved by his students, co-workers and faculty. He was upstate manager of ARA at the Saratoga Flat Track and the Capital District Central NY Chef's Association as well as its president. Wayne was actively involved with his church in youth groups and choir. He was director of Ballston Lake's Improvement Association and past president; American Legion Post 1817 and the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge 433, and the Vocational Club of America. He enjoyed boating and swimming and spending time at the lake. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Mabie of Ballston Lake; two children, David F. Mabie and his wife Kim of Buford, Ga. and Marcy J. Todd and her husband Jeff of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren,
Michael Ray and Morgan Ryleigh Todd;
Jenna Elizabeth, Kelsea Nicole and
Kendall Grace Mabie; a brother,
Robert J. Mabie of Gloversville and sister
Renee J. Merolli of Douglas, Mass. Wayne was predeceased by both his parents and a brother, Karl H. Mabie. Many nieces and nephews survive. A memorial service and Eucharist will be celebrated Saturday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 547 Saratoga Rd. with the Rev. Gary Sandburg officiating. The family has requested comfortable clothes be worn to the service for a celebration of Wayne's life will follow at the Fireman's Grove and Picnic Grounds on Main Street, Ballston Lake. The Family will receive relatives and friends Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road (off Rte. 50). In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be sent in memory of D.
