  Anecdote	Annie ran the boarding house, a two-storied structure on the main road going North. Patronized by drovers and other travelers from the Wairarapa. Large mobs of cattle came through and were held overnight in the family's holding yards. Mrs. Benge used to have to get up at 3 a.m. to get the drovers off in time for them to make their next night's stay, the present Quinn's post. Used to cater for up to twelve drovers at a time. The charge for stock being held was twopence per head per night. Mr. Benge made all of her own bread and butter and kept poultry. The children helped by milking the cows.
