- Charlie A. Mabie, 86, of 1508 E. Bristol St., died Monday evening in General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Jan 21, 1889, in LaGrange. His first wife, Hazel, and three children were killed in an automobile accident April 28,1929. He then married Edna M. Stowe, Oct 24, 1931, in Elkhart. She survives with one daughter, Mrs Dewain (Ruby) Filley, Dowagiac; a stepson, Robert B. Stowe, Elkhart; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna Messenger, Jackson, Mich. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home where services will be 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Thomas C. Kuhn, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Mr. Mabie retired Jan 8, 1954, from the New York Central Railroad where he was employed as a freight conductor for 37 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Legion of the Moose, and the Fellowship of the Moose. The Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home

- Edna M. Mabie, 88, of 1508 E. Bristol St., died at 6:25 am today at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness. She was born Jan 20, 1902, in New York City. She married Charlie A. Mabie on Oct 24, 1931, in Elkhart. He died Aug 25, 1975, in Elkhart. Surviving are a son, Robert B. Stowe, Elkhart; a step-daughter, Ruby Filley, Dowagiac; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Gary (Mary) Tews, Willoughby, Ohio. A brother and a sister are deceased. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and until services at 3 p.m. Saturday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Mrs. Mabie worked at C.G. Conn for 50 years, retiring in 1967. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Railroad Trainmen and of Women of Moose Chapter 78.
