- Clark Ledrieu Mabie died Thursday morning, June 10, at his home on Cedar avenue after several months's illness through which he was a patient and uncomplaining sufferer.
He was born in Naples, Yates county, New York, March 10, 1849. In 1855 he moved with his parents to Ionia county, Michigan. He was married to Laura Saxton McDaniels Sept. 27, 1877, at Farwell, where they kept a general store 10 years. They then moved to Meredith where they conducted a shingle mill and grocery store until they moved the shingle mill to Gladwin in 1894. He continued in the shingle mill business until 1902 when they opened a restaurant at their present location.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. William Hicks of Flint; and four grandchildren. He was the last of his family. His sister, Mrs. Emma Springer of Ontario, Oregon, died Dec. 25, 1918, and his brother, Milan Mabie, February, 1920, at Hart, Michigan.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at the home by the I.O.O.F. lodge, of which Mr. Mabie was a member assisted by Rev. J. H. Cornelius. Interment in Highland cemetery.
Relatives and friends from out of town who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. Phebe Mabie of Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Middleton of Billings, Ladrieu Honey of Flint, Mr. and Mrs. William Hicks of Flint
