  	Robert Mathews, a carpenter, about 38, husband of Katherine Mabee, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon, when he lost control of the Star coupe he was driving on the Vernon road, near the Paddock farm. The car crashed through a fence and landed between two trees. The top rail of the fence was ripped off and it jammed in the car door in piercing him in the side. Mr Mathews was eating a banana at the time of the accident.
