Mrs. Ruth Maybee, 75, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday at the Friendly Nursing Home, where she had been since Feb. 25, 1970. She had been ill the last six years. A resident of Huntington most of her life, she was a retired employee of Memcor. Mrs. Maybee was born July 6, 1895, at South Whitley to Edward and Anna Blaine Maples. Her first marriage was to Clyde Lenwell, her second to Ellis Davis. Both are deceased. Her third marriage was to George F. Maybee on December 21, 1952. Surviving are Mr. Maybee, 705 German St., six children, Mrs. Roscoe (Mary) Bucher, Fort Wayne, Lew Lenwell, Huntington, Fred L. Lenwell, Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. James D. (Anna Jane) Stanley, Huntington, Donald B. Lenwell, San Diego, Cal., and James Lenwell, Fort Wayne; two stepsons, George F. Maybee, Jr., Arlington Heights, Ill., and Harold J. Maybee, Zion, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a brother, J. Blaine Maples, Fort Wayne. Deceased are three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters and a brother. Friends may call at the Bailey Mortuary after 7 p.m. Thursday, where funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Markle Cemetery. |

George F. Maybee, 65, a resident of 705 German St., and a retired employee of Orton Crane Co., died at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Zion-Benton Hospital at Zion, Ill. He had been visiting his son, Harold Maybee Sr., Zion, Ill., after a two months visit with family in California. He was born on November 19, 1906, at Huntington to Jesse and Minnie Huebner Maybee and his last marriage was on December 21, 1952, to Ruth Maples Davis who died June 2, 1971. Surviving are two sons, George F. Maybee Jr., Arlington Heights, Ill. and Harold J. Maybee, Sr., Zion, Ill.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Roscoe (Mary) Buchner, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. James D. (Anna Jane) Stanley, Huntington; four step-sons, Lew Lenwell, Huntington; Fred L. Lenwell, Santa Monica, Calif.; Donald B. Lenwell, El Cajon, Calif.; and James Lenwell, Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Ethel Maybee, at home and Mrs. Wilma Garrison, Huntington; and a brother, Robert Maybee, Huntington. Deceased is a sister, Mrs. Leona Mitten. Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday at the Bailey Mortuary where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Ivan R. Woods, Wolcott, officiating. Burial will be in the Markle Cemetery. |

Funeral arrangements are planned for 91 year old George Fredrick Maybee, Jr. of Iowa Falls, Iowa and formerly of Boone, Iowa.  He passed away at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, Wednesday, May 20, 2020.  Due to CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, a public memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad or the Boone Area Humane Society all of Boone, Iowa.
