- Services for Joseph Louis Mabee, 58, of Rt 1, Brownwood, will today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with burial to be at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Rev Curtis Keith will officiate.
Mr Mabee died at 6:25 pm Saturday at the Brownwood Community Hospital following a long illness.
He was born May 18, 1915 in Dade Co, Mo, and was a retired rancher. Member of the First Christian Church, he had lived in Brown County for 19 years. He married Vida R Austin at Lockwood, Mo, June 17, 1939.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Neil Mabee of Brownwood and Douglass Mabee of Dallas; two brothers, Guy Mabee of Midland and Jules Rhine of Northfield, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

- Vida R. Mabee, 81, died Friday, November 19, 1999 at her home.
Gravesides services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Judith Gaylor officiating. Burial in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mabee was born in Sargent, Neb. and married Louie Mabee in 1939 in Lockwood, Miss. She worked as an LVN at Brownwood Memorial and Brownwood Regional and later retired from the Texas Youth Commission. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Neil Mabee of Brownwood; one sister, Hazel Conner of Kearney, Neb.; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren.

- Carolyn Mabee passed away surrounded by family on November 20, 2022, in Brownwood, Texas.
Carolyn was born to Arnold and Velma Herdman on January 10, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas. She has been a resident of Brown County for 59 years. She married Neil l. Mabee on June 29, 1963, at First Christian Church in Brownwood, Texas. Carolyn and Neil were married for 59 years when she passed.
Carolyn enjoyed line dancing and would perform at local nursing homes. She was the secretary of to Brownwood Regional Medical Center Ostomy club. Spending time with her family is what was most important to her. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carolyn will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Velma Herdman.
Carolyn was survived by her husband, Neil L. Mabee of Brownwood, her son Neil L Mabee Jr. of Brownwood, her daughter, Felicia L Pinson and husband Steven Pinson of May, her brother, Dale Herdman of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, her sister, Audria Crawford of Amarillo, Texas, two grandchildren, Jordan Snapp and Skylar Mabee, and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday November 23, 2022, at 1:00pm, at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.
Services are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home Davis-Morris Chapel in Brownwood, Texas

Neil Louis Mabee, 85, passed away surrounded by family on February 4, 2026 in Brownwood, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.
Neil was born to Joseph and Vida Mabee on September 17, 1940 in Princeton, Indiana. He attended school at Brownwood High School and went on to attend college at Texas A&M where he was a 1964 graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration. Neil has been a resident of Brown County for 63 years. He married Carolyn Herdman on June 29, 1963, at First Christian Church in Brownwood, where they began a life together that blessed them with 2 children. Neil and Carolyn were married for 59 years.
Neil enjoyed family, football, and fast cars! You could find him parked in front of the T.V. watching A&M or Kansas City on the weekends.
Neil is survived by his son, Neil Louis Mabee Jr. of Brownwood; his daughter, Felicia Pinson (Steven) of May; 2 grandchildren, Jordan Snapp and Skylar Mabee; and 3 great grandchildren.
Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Mabee and his parents, Joseph and Vida Mabee.
