  Anecdote	Overton lived with Calvin and Annie Montgomery after the death of his first step-father, Robert Carr. He was listed as a domestic on the farm in the Canadian 1891 & 1901 census of Ernestown Twp, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario. He was given the farm by the Montgomery's in their will. His mother, Margaret Jane Powley, married Henry (also known as Harry) Beck and lived in Napanee. She and her husband were witnesses at his marriage. The subject of Overton's father was not allowed to be discussed within the family and no one knew who his father actually was until November 2006 when the birth registration was found. Family lore had Margaret Jane Powley working at Dr Mabee's house in Odessa as a domestic at the time of her pregnancy. Charles Mabee would be a nephew of the doctor and a second cousin once removed of Margaret Jane Powley.
