- Maybee was killed ... in an exchange of shots with officers.... The officers received a report of the holdup at Cloyd's barbecue at 12:18 am. The headed for Cloyd's and saw a man running...the man fired at them when they put a spotlight on him ... they fired back. Maybee stumbled into the darkness and disappeared.... The man was found lying in an open field with a gun lying near his hand. Maybee was identified as a former convict.
