San Diego, California [9] |
- Agnes Mabie, 93, of Spring Valley, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. She was born in Rotterdam, Holland and immigrated to the United States in 1924. She resided in New Jersey, where she met and married her late husband, Pete Mabie. In 1973, they moved to California to live near their only daughter, Virginia. Agnes worked 20 years for Lockheed Martin. She built the stabilizer for the Apollo II rocket. Her name, with those of other workers, is in a capsule that Neil Armstrong placed on the moon. Agnes will always be remembered for her strength and optimism; a woman who always had a twinkle in her eye and a great love of life. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia, and son-in-law, Ralph Rader, granddaughters, Christy Jones and Karen Clarke, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 6th, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Saint Luke, 1980 Hillsdale Road, El Cajon, CA 92019. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O. Box 17279, Baltimore, MD 21203 or www.blindness.org
