- Robert A. Mabey, 79, passed away suddenly at his home, May 25, 2010. He was born in Oakley, Idaho, May 9, 1931, to Daniel Leonard and LaVernie Fewkes Mabey. He was the seventh of eight children. He graduated from Oakley High School. After high school he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western Canadian Mission, where he met his future wife, Edith Marjory Lamb. They were married Aug. 14, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on Dec. 4, 1954.
Robert enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and served our country for 24 years before retiring to Logan. While in the Air Force, he served in Texas, France, Germany, Thailand and California.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marge; his sons, Steven (Ronda) Mabey, Chris (Katrina) Mabey; his daughters, Kathy (Gary) Dempster, Kim (Ken) Olsen; thirteen grandchildren; and eight-and-a-half great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and LaVernie; four brothers; and one sister.
Robert was a devoted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a branch president twice and in a branch presidency and on the high council and other various positions in the Church. The position he loved the most was being a Scoutmaster. He loved to do family history and learning about his heritage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in the Logan 10th Ward Chapel, 792 N. 500 East, with Bishop Joseph Day conducting. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Military rites and interment will be in the Logan Cemetery
