- Edna Kay Maybee, 75, of Eldon passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 surrounded by her family at Eldon Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldon.
She was born on October 3, 1942 in Lick Branch, Arkansas, near Harrison, Arkansas; the daughter of Edd and Sue (Christian) Grisham, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to J.R. Maybee, who preceded her in death in 2015.
Edna was a graduate of Alpena High School in Alpena, Arkansas and throughout the years enjoyed cooking meals for many school children around the Kansas City Area. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Crittenton Childrens Hospital in Kansas City.
While living in Harrison, Arkansas, she attended Crossroads Community Church, after moving back to the family farm in Alpena, Arkansas, she attended Alpena Baptist Church.
She was a loving mother and enjoyed cooking, especially making homemade noodles and canning jelly with her grandchildren. She loved the peace and quiet the outdoors brought her while gardening her vegetables and beautiful floral gardens.
Edna had a witty personality and enjoyed sweets, especially hot fudge sundaes and malts with her daughters. She liked to go shopping including sidewalk sales and finding a bargain was always a good time. Most of all, Edna loved her family and the memories they shared will always be remembered and cherished.
She is survived by two daughters: Susan (Mike) Barnett of Eldon and Debbie Greenwood of Independence, Missouri; two brothers: David (Connie) Grisham of Alpena, Arkansas and Gary (Sandy) Grisham of Harrison, Arkansas; one sister: Sarah (Randy) Newman of Harrison, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Carene Ladner of Perkinston, Mississippi, Aaron Waldrop of Kansas City, Missouri, Devon Cheek of Springfield, Missouri and Christopher Waldrop of Overland Park, Kansas and two great grandchildren: Taia Waldrop and Xavier Waldrop.

- Amie Pearl Maybee, age 87, died on Sunday, May 1 (2011) at the Hospice of the Hills House in Harrison. Mrs. Maybee was born near Alpena, on Nov. 28, 1923, the daughter of David Layfate and Wrinda Paul Sneed.
Amie Pearl Sneed married Garvin E. Maybee on Nov. 25, 1938, and they made their home in the Alpena area until his death on Aug. 21, 1990. Mrs. Maybee was a member of the Church of Christ and attended at Alpena. She loved to sing and play the guitar and accordian. She loved to cook for her family and was known for her brown beans, biscuits and fried chicken.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Virgie Hamm, Unice Widner, Joicy Wootan, Mildred Wootan, Vida Bailey and Mamie Graves and two brothers, Raymond and Arlis Sneed.
She is survived by two sons, Charlie Maybee and wife Barbara of Alpena and J.R. Maybee and wife Edna Kay of Alpena; daughter, Lucille Bailey and husband Ron of Alpena; grandchildren, Ricky and wife Dawn Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Kavan and wife Nicki Maybee, Amie and husband Brandon Frantz; step-grandchildren, Debbie Greenwood and Susan Burnett; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Emma Johnson, Collin, Cora and Turner Frantz, Hesten and Hadley Maybee; step-great-grandchildren, Chris and Aaron Waldorp, Corine Terry and Tanner Crook; sisters-in-law, Clithy Hammons of Berryville and Pat Maybee of Alpena; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Alpena Church of Christ, with Bill Arnold and Jerry Goen speaking. Burial will be at Alpena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Maybee, Frank Bailey, Terry Lee Hensen, Brent Smith, Kevin Roberts and Friday Swensen. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Frantz, Wendell Sneed, Buster Widner and the staff of Bristol Pointe and Hospice of the Hills.

- J. R. Maybee, age 75, of Green Forest, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, at Skaggs Memorial Hospital in Branson, Missouri. The son of Garvin and Pearl (Sneed) Maybee, J. R. was born October 15, 1939 at Alpena, Arkansas. J. R. was preceded in death by his parents.
J. R. was a member of the Church of Christ in Seymour, Missouri. He was a teacher, coach and an administrator primarily at Seymour schools. He liked music and played guitar in a band with his brother for a number of years, loved country music, and in the last 14 years had enjoyed farming. During his teaching career his favorite years were those teaching and coaching Junior High School.
J.R. married Skipper Collins in 1963 and they had a daughter, Amie Ruth Maybee. He later married Edna Kay Grisham Maybee.
J.R. is survived by his wife, Edna Kay (Grisham) Maybee, of Green Forest; his daughter and son-in-law, Amie Ruth and Brandon Frantz, of Seymour, Missouri; his sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Ronnie Bailey, of Alpena, Arkansas; his brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Barbara Maybee, of Alpena, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Collin, Cora, Turner and Grayson Frantz, all of Seymour, Missouri.
Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with service at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Bill Arnold officiating.
Pallbearers are Mark Gordon, Richard Gordon, Danny Youngblood, Zack Thomas, Sam Barr and Collin Frantz.
Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Kavan Maybee and Brandon Frantz.
Interment will be in the Alpena Cemetery
