- Melvin William Rigby passed away in his home on September 19, 2008.
Melvin was born on October 30, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Charles Mabey and Lucille Christensen, raised by his adopted father James Stanley Rigby. Melvin married Rita Vayon Setterberg on December 1, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Rita passed away on August 8, 1994. Melvin married Connie Jill Lamb on February 14, 1998; their marriage was solemnized in the Mount Timpanogos Temple on October 9, 1999. Melvin was employed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as a Specialist in the Broadcast & Events Services Division, Audiovisual Department. He retired in February 2001 after nearly 30 years of service for the Church and Bonneville International. In his earlier years Melvin owned and operated his own business, "Mel's Radio & TV" repairing electronic equipment. He was always interested in and was great at fixing electronics, automobiles, and anything in need of repair. He also worked for years with his wife, Rita in their business, "Rigby Catering".
Melvin was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Elders Quorum Presidency and MIA. He also served as a Young Marrieds Leader, Home Teacher and in various other callings including Veil Worker in the Jordan River Temple. In 1954 while attending Jordan High School, Mel won first place in the district and then first place in the state, in a teenage Road-E-O contest, in recognition of expert driving ability and proper attitude. He always enjoyed driving, whether going on family vacations with his family or just going for car rides in the mountains.
Melvin is survived by his wife Connie Jill, mother Lucille Rigby, sons; Reynold Melvin (Shannon), Rulon Jay (Jennifer), Randall Melvin (Julie), Daughter RoLayne Vayon (Ronald) Hendricks, 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, eight step children, 36 step grandchildren, 28 step great grandchildren, brother Ronald James (Carolyn), sister Kathleene (Robert) Bringhurst. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Vayon, father William Charles Mabey, father James Stanley Rigby, infant son Rowland James Rigby, infant grandson Robert Scott Rigby, infant sister Lynn Marie Rigby.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Sandy Mount Jordan 3rd Ward Chapel, 8950 South 400 East, there will be a viewing 1 hour prior. Friends may call at Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South) on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 7-9 p.m.

- Lucille Christensen Rigby passed away peacefully Saturday morning in Bountiful, Utah, August 1, 2009.She was born March 4, 1915 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Chloe Jane Call Christensen and Lars Frederick Christensen. She married James Stanley Rigby in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 27, 1939. Lucille was an elegant lady, and will be remembered for her exquisite handmade chocolates. She also worked from home for many years as a beautician. She will be sorely missed. At the age of 72, because of the depression, Lucille completed her education by attending Skyline High School to receive her GED, graduating as Valedictorian of her class. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and participated in the ward choir for many years as well as serving faithfully in numerous church callings, including pianist, organist, and in Primary. She also served three missions with her husband Stan; (England, Manchester, 1980-82; Chicago Temple, winter 1985-86 and a local mission in the Family History area of the Church Offices, 1991.) She was a lifetime member of the Heritage Chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Lucille is survived by two children, Ronald J. (Carolyn) Rigby, Kathleen (Robert J.) Bringhurst; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Lynn Marie; son, Melvin W.; grandson, Rowland; great-grandson, Robert Scott; two brothers, Don, Garold; and two sisters, Vera and Mary. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 South 2900 East. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates.
