- Mrs Carrie Jane Kennedy, 63, died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital, Peoria, where she had been a patient since Dec. 19 when she suffered a stroke....
Mrs Kennedy was born Feb 16, 1889 in East Peoria, a daughter of Marshall ans Laura Swesey Mabee. She was married to Hugh Kennedy in Deer Creek Oct 16, 1916
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs Eleanor Whittington, Tremont; Mrs Alice Wise, Deer Creek; Mrs Elsie Azbill, Congerville; and Mrs Virginia Platte, Greenville, S.C.; two sons, Clarence, Deer Creek, and Arthur, with the US Army; 12 grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: William E. Mabee, Rockford; Clarence M. Mabee, Peoria; Eugene R. Mabee, Deer Creek; Chester P. And Stanley D. Mabee, both of East Peoria; Mrs Laura Miller, Chicago; Theodore Mabee, Mackinaw; Miss Ruth Mabee, Jacksonville. One brother preceded her in death....

- Alice M. Wise, 91, of East Peoria passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Deer Creek, the daughter of Hugh and Carrie Mabee Kennedy. She married Darroll M. Wise. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1972.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Bays; one son, Gary Wise; one sister, Eleanor Schultz; and one brother, Clarence Kennedy.
Surviving are three children, Duane (Jan) Wise of Concord, N.C.; Vivian (Charles) Lehmann of Island Lake; and Eleanor (Rick) Dwyer of East Peoria; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur (Suzie) Kennedy of Deer Creek; two sisters, Elsie Azbill of Eureka and Virginia (Ken) Platte of Greenville, S.C.; son-in-law, Jim Bays; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice worked at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, retiring in 1984, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, with the Rev. John Bunch officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.

- Hugh "Art" Kennedy, 91, of Deer Creek, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice in Peoria.
He was born on December 16, 1929 in Deer Creek, IL, to Hugh and Carrie (Mabee) Kennedy. He married Susie Kincaid in Goodfield, IL, on November 14, 1954.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Kennedy of Deer Creek; son, Jim (Valerie) Kennedy of East Peoria; two daughters: Miriam (Rick) Patrick of Goodfield, IL and Carrie (Todd) Mull of Mapleton, IL; four grandchildren: Jason Kennedy, Devon Kennedy, Kelsey Mull and Cody Mull; and three great-grandchildren: Joshua Vargas, Rhyen Kennedy and Kalel Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Art was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean War. He worked 42 years at Caterpillar, Inc. as a machinist, retiring in 1988, last working in the office.
Art enjoyed playing all kinds of games with his family, gardening, reading, woodworking, music, hunting and fishing.
He served for many years on the Mt. Zion Cemetery Board in Deer Creek, IL.
Art attended New Castle Bible Church in Deer Creek, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, with Pastors Phil Somers and Kevin Sauder officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.
Memorials may be made to New Castle Bible Church. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
