- Mildred H. Baker, of Rhinebeck, NY, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Thompson House in Rhinebeck. She was 99 years old.
Ms. Baker was born September 10, 1916 in Brewster, NY, daughter to the late William Howe and Gertrude (Mabie) Baker. Mildred attended the Donesburg One Room School House and graduated from Brewster High School, she continued her education at Elmira College where she majored in Latin.
Mildred became a teacher because she loved to help people, she taught Latin grades 9-12 at the Hudson Falls Central School, Hudson Falls, New York.
After retiring from teaching, Mildred and her sister Marion enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and several countries. Mildred attended the Old Southeast Church during her youth, after moving to Rhinebeck, she attended the Reformed Church of Rhinebeck. Mildred was a member of the Grange, the Waterman Bird Club, the Retired Teacher Association of the Hudson Falls Central School and the Elmira College Alumni Association
Mildred is survived by her many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Gertrude and her sister Marion.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11am at Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster, NY. Interment will follow. Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster, NY assisted the family with arrangements.

- William Howes Baker, 83 of the hamlet of Doansburg, died at his home early Thursday morning, April 20, 1961, after an illness of a year. He was a retired farmer and a former Justice of the Peace. He was born in Doanesburg, Oct. 26, 1877, a son of the late Eli R. and Aurelia Howes Baker and resided there all his life.
Mr. Baker was graduated from the Eastman National Business College in Hackensack, N.J.
In addition, to farming and serving as a justice of peace, he was a member of the board of directors of Milltown Rural Cemetery, charter member of the Brewster Grange. He was also an elder and former treasurer of the Old Southeast Presbyterian Church and a member of the Croton Lodge, F&A.M.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Mabie Baker; two daughters, Misses Marion and Mildred Baker of Doanesburg,. and several cousins.
The funeral was held Saturday, at 2:30 p.m. in the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace. The Rev. Cameron Allan, minister of the Brewster Presbyterian Church, officiated.
Burial was in Milltown Rural Cemetery.
