- Miss Harriet C. Mapes, for years a resident of Skagit County died at the county hospital Wednesday evening at the age of 87. Miss Mapes was born in Erie County, New York on August ? 1848 and lived there until she moved to Cherry County, Nebraska in 1886. In 1910 she came to Mount Vernon and made her home with her niece, Mrs. Starr, where she stayed until 1932, through an unfortunate accident she broke her hip and was bedridden in the county hospital. Early in her life she became affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal faith and remained in her religious convictions to the day of her death. Mis Mapes is survived by her sister, Mrs, William Maybee, Route 5 and other distant relatives both here and in the East. Funeral Services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o clock from the Aaron Light Funeral parlors. Interment will be at a local cemetery.
