While the First Presbyterian Church of Mexicoh was formed in the Town of Mexico [hence its name] in 1810, it apparently served a broad congregation, including the Town of Parish. In 1830, the congregation split, with the westernmost part of the Town of Mexico forming a new church, and the minister, one David R. Dixon, staying with the existing church, including the members in the Town of Parish. Services seemed to alternate between the two towns, with the services in Parish being held in members' houses.
