- Evelyn Drake Mabie was born on September 29, 1925. Her parents were Charles V. Mabie and Beulah Wheeler. She grew up in the city of Poughkeepsie, graduating from Poughkeepsie High School in 1943. Up until her death she stayed in touch with her classmates and attended the class reunions. She returned to school after her children were grown and received a Masters Degree in social work and retired in 1984 from New York State working with mentally challenged people as a social worker. Her brothers Charles Edmund Mabie and George Mabie and her sister Patricia Mabie all predeceased her. She died April 16, 2019 at her home peacefully and was cremated and buried next to her parents and grandparents in the Mellenville Cemetery in Mellenville, NY. Evelyn was a long time member of the Maybee Society and I was blessed to receive an occasional note from her, telling me how proud she was of our family's heritage. She will be missed.
