- Bill Duty, age 87, of the Boxley Valley at Ponca, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013, at his home of 85 years, with his family and friends by his side. He was born October 4, 1925, in Ponca, Arkansas, the son of Frank and Gladys (Young) Duty. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Frankie Roy; his Aunt Bessie; and his grandparents.
Bill was a longtime member of Boxley Baptist Church where he was baptized August of 1952. He married Dean Villines November 13, 1948, in Ponca, officiated by Bill's grandfather, Lester Young. He was a member of the United States Navy having served during World War II. After returning home, he farmed, worked in the timber industry, and retired after 13 years with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. In his free time, Bill enjoyed socializing with his many friends and family.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Dean Duty, of the home; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will dearly miss his visits.
