oObit28 April 1927  On 28 April 1927 at Clifton Springs, Ontario County, New York, the obituary of Dora Wheatley read: Mrs. David Slack, a resident of the Chapin vicinity, died at the Sanitarium, late Wednesday night, as a result of injuries sustained when she was struck by a Ford sedan occupied by Ernest J. Bradley and Miss Emily Deal of this village. The accident happened at an early hour on Monday night. Mrs. Slack, her son, Clifford, and a boy named Edm
und Dibble were walking along the highway, a short distance from the gas station at Chapin. The Ford, according to the statements of Mr. Bradley, the owner, and Miss Deal, who was driving, was going towards Shortsville and met another car. The occupants claim the lights of the approaching car blinded them and they failed to see the three people walking on the road. Young Dibble jumped when he saw the Ford upon them and escaped injury. Mrs. Slack's son was slightly injured but his mother was knocked down. Bradley and Miss Deal brought her to the Sanitarium.
Mr. Bradley is a well known resident of the village and is employed by the Lehigh Valley at Manchester, Miss Deal is a student nurse at the Sanitarium. Her home is at Allen's Hill. Much sympathy is felt for all concerned in the accident.
Mrs. Slack was a daughter of the late William and Sarah Maybee Wheatley and was born in the town of Manchester in 1883. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dibble of Canandaigua and Miss Zelma Slack of Shortsville, two sons, Elmer and Clifford Slack of Shortsville, four sisters, Mrs. Harry Wolcott of Manchester; Mrs. William Larner and Mrs. John Slack of Manchester Center, and Mrs. Mamie Daymon of R. D., Shortsville; also one brother, Albert Wheatley, of R. D., Shortsville, and a half-brother, Richard Wheatley of Hopewell. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Manchester Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Leon L. Swarthout. The burial was made in the Pioneer cemetery about two miles east of Shortsville, on the Clifton Springs Road.5 
oObit*4 May 1927  On 4 May 1927 at Ontario County, New York, the obituary of Dora Wheatley read: Mrs. David Schlecht died at the Sanitarium in Clifton Springs Wednesday night, April 27, aged forty four years. She was a daughter of the late William and Sarah Maybee Wheatley, and was born in the town of Manchester in 1883.
She is survived by her husband, David Schlecht, two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Dibble of Canandaigua, Miss Thelma Schlecht, Elmer and Clifford Schlecht, all of Shortsville, four sisters, Mrs. Harriet Wolcott of Manchester, Mrs. William Larner and Mrs. John Schlecht of Manchester Center, and Mrs. Mame Daiman of Shortsville, one brother, Albert Wheatley of Shorstville, and one half brother, Richard Wheatley of Hopewell. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Baptist church in Manchester.
David W. Schlecht was born New York 1872. He married Dora A. Wheatley December 23, 1902.6

She was born at home in Bay City on June 8, 1908, the tenth child of Mary and Amos Woolfitt. She was preceded in death by husbands Lewis M. Fenton, Crosby M. Rogers and George C. Johnson. Eleanor is survived by two sons, James L. Fenton (Georgie), George W. Rogers (Joan); four grandchildren, Georgiana Vailliencourt (Bill), Jennifer Fenton, Timothy Rogers (Valerie), Mark Rogers; and seven great-grandchildren. There are several nephews and nieces. She was educated in the Bay City Public Schools, graduating from Bay City Central High School with honors in 1926. Eleanor then graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BA in French and English in 1930. She was a teacher in the Bay City Public Schools for 30 years, as Miss Woolfitt, Mrs. Fenton, and as Mrs. Rogers at several schools, retiring from the MacGregor Middle School. Eleanor was a member of the Madison Avenue United Methodist Church for sixty years until she retired to Gladwin. She was then active in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church for twenty years. Following several years as a resident in the Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home in Bay City, she moved to Leelanau Memorial, now Tendercare of Leelanau in Suttons Bay. Eleanor was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, MEA, NEA, Retired Teachers Association, The WSCS, and the United Methodist Women. In recent years she was a member of the Leland United Methodist Church. A Funeral Service will be held at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland, Michigan, on March 10, 2012, at 1:30 pm with Reverend Dr. Charles Keyworth of First United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. A private burial will take place at a later date in Troy, Michigan, at the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery.3
