Born in DuBois, Sept. 22, 1938, he was a son of Anna Abramovich Mabie and the late Rome C. Mabie. His wife of 45 years, Charlotte Foley Mabie, survives.
He was formerly employed at Fiske and Sons Restoration, and retired from Hammermill Paper Company. He served in the U.S. Army in Company B, 516th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.
He was an avid sportsman who was invited to try out for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was actively involved in many activities at St. Hedwig Parish of Erie. He spent many hours at Springcreek and on Miracle Mountain hunting with his dad, sons, his brother-in-law and nephew. He also enjoyed fishing at Presque Isle with his sons and father.
He is survived by two sons, Joe and Chuck, both of Erie; two brothers, Joe of Thornton and Regis of Erie; three sisters: Evelyn Kirkwood of DuBois, Romaine Hanson and Mrs. Jack (Colleen) Foltyn, both of Erie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman "Bubs" Mabie and Chuck Mabie; as well as two sisters, Geraldine Mabie Yount and Becky Mabie Hoff.
Friends will be received at 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Hedwig Church, 521 East 3rd St., Erie, with the Rev. Fr. Bill Sutherland officiating.6

She moved to Erie from DuBois in 1955.
She worked as a nurse's aide at St. Vincent Hospital, Doctor's Osteopathic Hospital, Soldier's and Sailor's Home, and private duty with several local families.
She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano and music.
She is survived by three daughters: Evelyn Kirkwood of DuBois and Romaine Hanson and Mrs. Jack (Colleen) Foltyn, both of Erie; two sons, Joseph Mabie of Thornton and Regis Mabie of Erie; one sister, Eleanor Kotsull of Reno, Nev; one brother, Johnny Abramovich of Reno, Nev; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three sons: Mickey, Charles and Norman John Mabie; two daughters, Geraldine Yount and Beverly Hoff; her step father, Joseph Abramovich; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Born Feb. 2, 1928, in DuBois, he was a son of the late Rome C. and Anna Abramovich Mabie. He was married to Theresa Devine July 18, 1957. She survives.
He was employed at American Meter Works, then entered the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Harrisburg and became a Pennsylvania state trooper. He then became a state police patrolman for the B&O Railroad, worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer and retired from Pennsylvania Electric. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He attended St. Catherine's grade school and DuBois High School. He excelled and lettered as a back in football and a heavyweight wrestler. He was offered football scholarships to Notre Dame and the University of Kentucky. He chose the University of Kentucky and played under Coach Bear Bryant. A crippling knee injury ended his football career and he returned to DuBois.
A great deal of his childhood was spent at the Mabie family homestead on Church Street, DuBois.
He is also survived by two daughters, Theresa and Trisha; one brother, Regis (Rita) Mabie, Erie; three sisters: Evelyn Mabie Kirkwood of DuBois, Romaine Mabie Hanson and Colleen Mabie (Jack) Foltyn of Erie; two grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Mary Theresa; three brothers: Norman John "Bubs" Mabie of Las Cruces, N.M., Charles Robert "Chuck" Mabie of Sharon, and Albert "Mickey" Mabie of Erie; two sisters, Geraldine "Gerry" Mabie Yount, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Beverly "Becky" Mabie Hoff of Tujunga, Calif; and one niece.
Burial was in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.7 
Death*17 June 2015 Evelyn Mabie died on 17 June 2015 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at age 82.2 
Burial* She and Robert Dale Kirkwood were buried at Saint Michaels Cemetery, DuBoise, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. Inscription "Kirkwood; Evelyn R; Mar. 24, 1933; — ; Robert D; May 23, 1931; Aug. 8, 1999."5

Although he had retired, Mr. Bonina continued to remain active. He was a member of the Italian American Club, where he played cards daily, a poll worker for the City of Marlborough, where he served as warden for many years, an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and, until the past few years, he had enjoyed working at Edinboro Flower Shop making deliveries and as a courier. He was a member of the former St. Ann's Parish in Marlborough.
He leaves his sons, Robert Bonina and his wife, Paula, of Marlborough and Bryan Bonina and his wife, Sebnem, of Bristol, Conn; his daughters, Robin Sinacole and her husband, Bernie, of Marlborough and Linda Bonina of Uxbridge; close family friend, Ruth Newhall of Uxbridge; his grandchildren, Anthony, Vanessa and Andre Sinacole and Ashley, Joshua and Justin Bonina, all of Marlborough; and his brother, Biagio Bonina and his wife, Jennie, of Marlborough.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.2
