(Witness) oObit | 27 January 2007 | Clara Louise Hermes was mentioned in the obituary of Walter Emmerson Hermes on 27 January 2007; Walter Emmerson Hermes, 76, of Edgewood, Wash., formerly of Versailles, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1930, in Pekin, Ill., a son of William and Alice Hermes. On Dec. 7, 1952, he was married to his high school sweetheart, Joyce Eggen, who died in 1991. Mr. Hermes graduated from Pekin High School in 1951. He moved to Juneau, Alaska, with his family in 1960. He worked for the state of Alaska. He retired in 1980. He moved to Versailles, before he moved to Edgewood, where he lived with his son and family. Surviving are two sons, Dennis Hermes, and his wife, Linnea, of Edgewood, Wash., and Robin Hermes, of Panguitch, Utah; a sister, Clara Mabee, of Pekin, Ill; four grandchildren, Trista Burns, Creighton, Rory and Jeremy Hermes; and five great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by an infant son, Daniel, and two brothers, Eugene and William Hermes. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett.4 |

She was formerly of 1206 Janssen Street in Pekin. Born May 28, 1922 in Pekin to William Henry and Alice Elsie (Mabee) Hermes, she married Wilton D. Morrison on December 31, 1938 in Palmyra, MO. He died November 28, 1966. She later married Stanley David Mabee on August 4, 1971 in Pekin. He died June 19, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Carolyn Bell Pearcy; and 3 brothers, Eugene Hermes, William Hermes, and Walter Hermes. Surviving are 3 sons, Robert (Ellen) Morrison and Alan (Beth) Morrison, both of Pekin, and James (Desi) Morrison of Jacksonville, FL; 1 daughter, Marjorie Wilson of Pekin; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Clara worked as a waitress at Westbrook's for many years. She also had worked at Patsy's Bakery in Pekin. She was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church in Deer Creek. Clara enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and baking. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Glendale Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The Rev. Henry Miller will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.3 |
