oObit* | July 2017 | In July 2017 the obituary of David Martin Mabee read: David Martin Mabee, 69, Springboro, Ohio passed peacefully on July 10, 2017 at Southview Hospital. Born April 2, 1948, to Harold H. and Julia Mabee in Middletown, NY, David was a proud alumnus of Middletown High School and the University of Kentucky. David taught at Defiance High School for over 20 years and throughout his life touched many lives. From the classroom as a high school teacher, the sidelines as a coach, the stage as an actor and director of theater and the Fort Defiance Players, or the ambulance as an EMT, his greatest joy was helping others and giving back to the community. After leaving Defiance High School, he continued to coach students in performance at Alonso High School in Tampa, Florida and most recently at Springboro High School. David was an active member of United Methodist Church in Springboro where he sang in the choir and served as Administrative Council Chair for the last 10 years. He was employed with Community Tissue Services servicing the medical need for healing bone and tissue used around the world. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of 48 years, daughters Laura (Mark) Beasley, Erin (Ted) Mattis, four fun-loving grandchildren, whom he adored and loved to support at their sports and music events, and a brother Harold (Geri) Mabee of Gatlinburg, TN. A special thank you to the nurses and medical staff at Southview ICU who were very important and comforting to him and his family during his last few days. In lieu of flowers, to honor David please enjoy a Broadway show tune, see a high school performance or donate to your local fine arts program, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or your church because these organizations were very close to his heart. "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts" - William Shakespeare Celebration of Life service Monday, July 17, 2017 at 2pm, Springboro United Methodist Church, 60 E North St, Springboro, OH 45066. Following the service, an open house will be held at the Mabee residence in Springboro.2 |
