Mr. Mabie was one of the best known and most respected citizens of Rhinecliff, having lived there fifty years. He was born in the Town of Clinton, January 28, 1836. He was a son of the late Michael and Mary Mabie. He was married January 2, 1861 to Maria Phillys of LaGrange. His occupation, during his lifetime was a stone mason. He was connected with the Methodist church of Rhinecliff. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Ellsworth, Washington and Edward; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Harrington, and one sister, living in Rochester. The funeral was held from his late home Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in Rhinebeck cemetery.6 |

oObit* | 7 March 1963 | On 7 March 1963 at Rhinebeck, New York, the obituary of Washington Mabie read: G. Washington Mabie, Rhinecliff, who celebrated his 100th birthday anniversary November 20, 1962, died Wednesday night in Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He entered the hospital last Thursday after suffering a fall at his home. Mr. Mabie was born in the town of Rhinebeck, Nov. 20, 1862 at Flat Rock. The Mabie family lived in a stone house located at the intersection of what is now Route 308 and the River Road, leading into Ankony Farms. He attended the Flat Rock School which was the only school in that part of town, until the Rhinecliff School was built in 1878. At an early age his family moved to Hutton Farm, now occupied by the Riverside Farms. He went to work as a boy on The Hutton Farm. Later he was employed by Robert Suckley as dairyman, and he also worked on the Levi P. Morton Estate in various capacities. In 1910 he went into the trucking business which continued until 1940 when he retired. He had lived in his present home since 1876. which is also occupied by his nephew Elmer F. Harrington. He was a member of Rhinebeck Methodist Church for 79 years. Surviving, besides Mr. Harrington, are two other nephews. George Harrington of Rhinecliff and Jacob Mabie of Poughkeesie, and three nieces, M rs. Barzelle Cole of Red Hook, Mrs. Dena Mabie and Mrs. Edna Creighton, both of Poughkeepsie, and several cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock at the Dapson Funeral Home, 65 W. Market street, Rhinebeck. The Rev. Robert Hankins. pastor of the Methodist parish, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening.18 |

He was a son of the late Michael and Mary Mabie. He was married January 2, 1861 to Maria Phillys of LaGrange. His occupation, during his lifetime was a stone mason. He was connected with the Methodist church of Rhinecliff. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Ellsworth, Washington and Edward; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Harrington, and one sister, living in Rochester. The funeral was held from his late home Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in Rhinebeck cemetery.8 |

He was a painter by trade. At one time he was employed on the New York and Albany Day Line. Surviving are his wife, who before their marriage was Miss Margaret Maybee of Rhinecliff, two sons, George of Poughkeepsie and Elmor of Rhinecliff and a daughter, Mrs Barzelle Cole of Red Hook. Four grandchildren also survive. Mr. Harrington was a prominent Democrat and for years has been an active worker for his party in Rhinecliff and a member of the election board. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock a t his late home, with the Rev. Mr. Piper, pastor of the Rhinecliff Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Rhinebeck cemetery.10 |

Mr. Mabie was one of the best known and most respected citizens of Rhinecliff, having lived there fifty years. He was born in the Town of Clinton, January 28, 1836. He was a son of the late Michael and Mary Mabie. He was married January 2, 1861 to Maria Phillys of LaGrange. His occupation, during his lifetime was a stone mason. He was connected with the Methodist church of Rhinecliff. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Ellsworth, Washington and Edward; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Harrington, and one sister, living in Rochester. The funeral was held from his late home Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in Rhinebeck cemetery.11 |

Although she had been in poor health for some time, she had been able to be about her home and her death had not been expected. Born in Germany, the daughter of the late Herman and Amelia Stabe, Mrs Mabie had been a resident here for 42 years. Surviving in addition to her husband and daughter, Dena, are three other daughters, Mrs William Creighton and Mrs Edward Nyack here and Mrs Mary Goff, Philadelphia; a son Jacob C Mabie, here; a sister, Mrs Jacob Schlimmer, here; a brother August Stabe, Antigo, Wisc; and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.16 |

Surviving in addition to Miss Mabie, are two other daughters Mrs Edna Creighton and Mrs Edward Nyack, here; a son, Jacob C Mabie, here; and a brother Washington Mabie, Rhinecliff. His wife Mrs Augusta Stabe Mabie, died a few years ago. Funeral services will be conducted at the William G Miller Funeral Home Monday. Dr Arthur G Carroll, minister of the Washington Street Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural cemetery.4 |
