oObit | 26 September 1935 | On 26 September 1935 at Kane, McKean County, Pennsylvania, the obituary of Hazel Irene Maybee read: Mrs. Hazel Maybee Reed, wife of William Reed, of 219 Birch street, died last evening at the Community hospital, the day following a goitre operation. Mrs. Reed, who was thirty-five and lived in Kane all her life, entered the hospital ten days ago after being ill two months. Death cam just after eight o'clock last night. She was born in Kane, June 29, 1900 and went to the local schools. She was married at Ridgeway in 1922. She leaves her sister, Mrs. J. C. Taylor, of Marienville, and her grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Maybee, of Cyclone. Funeral services in her memory will be held from the home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. W. E. Bartelett, of the Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Reed was a member of that church. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn cemetery. -------------------------------------------- FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. REED Final rites in memory of Mrs. Hazel Reed, who dies Thursday at the Community hospitol, were held yesterday afternoon from the residence at 219 Birch street. The Rev. W. E. Barlett offficiated and Misses Margaret Anderson and Virginia Sailer sang two hymns during the ceremony. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.3 |

Mrs. Reed, who was thirty-five and lived in Kane all her life, entered the hospital ten days ago after being ill two months. Death cam just after eight o'clock last night. She was born in Kane, June 29, 1900 and went to the local schools. She was married at Ridgeway in 1922. She leaves her sister, Mrs. J. C. Taylor, of Marienville, and her grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Maybee, of Cyclone. Funeral services in her memory will be held from the home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. W. E. Bartelett, of the Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Reed was a member of that church. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn cemetery. -------------------------------------------- FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. REED Final rites in memory of Mrs. Hazel Reed, who dies Thursday at the Community hospitol, were held yesterday afternoon from the residence at 219 Birch street. The Rev. W. E. Barlett offficiated and Misses Margaret Anderson and Virginia Sailer sang two hymns during the ceremony. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.7 |

Enoch Gilman

Anecdote* | Before 1827 Enoch Gilman settled in Elk Township Warren County, Pennsylvania. He also lived at Corydon and at Corry Cornplanter. In 1873 he removed to Ludlow, Penna, where he died the following year. In 1819 one Enoch Gilman was a juror at the first court of quarter sessions held in Warren County. His name however, does not appear in the 1820 Census of Warren County. In 1827 Enoch Gilman built the first mill at Corydon. His name in first appears in the land records of Warren county in a deed, dated sept 3, 1829 in which he and wife, Pamelia, of Bradford township, Mckean County Pa. Conveyed ot Johnathon Thompson of pine grove, Warren county, certain land and half interest in a sawmill located on the east side of the alleghany river, near the mouth of Willow creek at Corydon. The present Corydon township was formerly a part of Bradford township, and belonged to Mckean county until 1846 when it was transferred to mckean county. On March 20, 1830 B. Marsh and wife Elsie of Elk township deed to Enoch Gilman of the same township, 272 acres of land there. The said B. Marsh was Enoch's Father-in-law.1 | |
