Joyce was a member of Daughters of Isabella, the Lady Trainmen, former Altar Society President, the Taylor Park University Group, St. Vincent de Paul Society and she volunteered at Loaves and Fishes. Joyce enjoyed playing bridge and crossword puzzles.

He owned and operated John E Mabie and Associates Insurance Co in Fond du Lac until retiring in 1982. He loved to fly airplanes and acquired his private pilot's license in 1968. He was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Trier-Puddy American Legion Post 75 and Fond du Lac Eagles Club.
Survivors include wis wife; two sons, Timothy J and his wife Barbara of Sacramento, Calif, and Daniel J and his wife Diane of Green Bay; one daughter, Mary Brigid Lodes and her husband David of Nashotah; seven grandchildren, Patrick Mabie of Sacramento, Calif, Amanda, Adam, Briana and Courtney Mabie, all of Green Bay, and Mathew and Katie Kodes of Nashotah; one brother, Dr Richard and his wife Kathleen of Clairmont, Calif; two sisters, Marjorie Hegener of Pacific Palisades, Calif, and June Dunham and her husband William of Edison, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Mabie of Brookfield and Elsie Mabie of Neenah; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding his in death were his parents; one granddaughter, Mollie Mabie; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Mabie; one brother-in-law, Joseph Hegner.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Wednesday at Zacherl Funeral Home, and at 10 am at St Joseph's Church. The Rev Patrick Heppe will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, the Trier-Puddy American Legion Firing Squad will conduct military services.3
