Don's passion was music and played with the RCMP band travelling across Canada. He loved nature and the outdoors, gardening, fishing and camping. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother and his beloved wife Betty-Anne Leedham. Survived by and greatly missed by his three daughters, Karen (Garth); Donna (Phil) and Christine; along with eight grandchildren Tina (Calvin), Charlotte (Milton) and Dustin, Bettyanne, Amie and Richard; Jena and Brooke; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Ryder, Jackson and Kayden; and his dearest sister Marjorie and family (Connecticut).Funeral Service and interment will be held at the RCMP Chapel, RCMP Academy, 'Depot' Division, Regina, SK on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Elliot Post 67 of the American Legion in Sheridan and the Millersville Lodge F & AM #126 In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Marsh, Lizabeth Wharam, and Mellisa and Christopher Wilson, all of Indianapolis, and Deborah and Rodger Rood-Woodward, Sheridan; , four grandsons and their spouses, Timothy H. And Stacie Marsh, Andrew and Kathryn Marsh, Josua and Katie Marsh and Patrick Marsh; four granddaughters and their spouses, Jessica and Joe Murray, Angela and Bryan Carroll, Madison Wilson, and Agigail Wilson, and five greatgrandchildren.... and two sisters, Leona Hardesty, Bedford, Va. And Rachel Cotrell, Richmond, Va.... Graveside services were Tuesday AT Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. IN. Interment will also be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Walter had been a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for more than 10 years and previously resided in Plainsboro, N.J., for 62 years. He was born on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1943, in Elizabeth, N.J., a son of the late Frank M. and Beatrice (Mabee) Stalcup. Throughout his younger years, Walter attended the Princeton-area schools, and later graduated from Princeton High School, Princeton, N.J., in 1961. On July 4, 1964, Walter married his loving wife, Barbara A. (Cruser) Stalcup. For more than 28 years, Walter was employed by Mideast Aluminum in Dayton, N.J., as an inside sales manager until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, a volunteer firefighter in Plainsboro, N.J., and a member of the Plainsboro Rod & Gun Club. Walter enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and going to Mohegan Sun Casino. In addition to his parents, Walter also was preceded in death by a sister, Ruthann Lane. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara A. Stalcup of Bloomsburg; two daughters: Jennifer A. Landacre and husband, David, of Vancouver, Wash., and Rebecca L. Jackman of Morrisville; five grandchildren: Kyle A. Jackman and wife, Katie Leigh, of Hamilton, N.J., Cody C. Jackman and girlfriend, Megan Silcox, of Hamilton, N.J., Chad A. Jackman and fiancée, Alexus Cook, of Stillwater, Okla., Chelsea E. Jackman and boyfriend, Ryan Wiley, of Morrisville, and Adam J. She was a treasured grandmother and great grandmother to Troy (Cathy) Handren and their children – Katelyn, Kelsey and Laurissa; Todd (Cindy) Handren, Jamie (Tabatha) Foster and their children – Shelby and Megan; Julie Henderson and her children – Taylor and Ethan; Weston (Jonny) and Alacia Handren (Scott); Kara and Lindsay Handren. She is also survived by her second family, Shirley (Paul) Daigle, their children Mary Rose and Paul (Bill) and his daughter Julia. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Holburn and siblings, Murray Holburn, Tina Littlejohn, Nan Ross and Lorraine Tanton. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. The family acknowledges with sincere gratitude for the kind and caring staff and residents at Seely Lodge and Bobby's Hospice. Family and friends may visit at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday, December 10 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the CNIB, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.4 |
