In 1830, the congregation split, with the westernmost part of the Town of Mexico forming a new church, and the minister, one David R. Dixon, staying with the existing church, including the members in the Town of Parish. Services seemed to alternate between the two towns, with the services in Parish being held in members' houses. at First Presbyterian Church, Mexico, Oswego County, New York.21

Anecdote* "Nancy Mabie House lived in the village of Parish and is said to have been given the talents of a Physician, so much that she was called Doctor and there was hardly a childbirth in the vicinity but what Dr. House was called, and this story is told of her and her horse. On one occasion a boy came to the door late at night and said that his mother wished her to come as soon as possible. She said she would start as long as she could prepare and saddle her horse, the boy then left for home which was about 5 miles away. When she arrived at the home, they asked as to where the boy was. she told them that he left before she did. They asked if the boy did not tell them of the bridge being washed away by high water on the reglar route there and she said, "no, he must have forgotten." They investigated and found that her horse had got her safely across the creek by walking on 18 inch hewn stringers as all the planks were washed away. She brought from 100 to 300 babies into the work."8

She had been a great sufferer for nearly nine years, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, being merely able to move herself without assistance. Her husband, who is still living, is 87 years of age. They were among the early 'pioneers of the county, settling here in 1847, and they were believed to be the oldest: living couple in the county.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Brown desire to express their heartfelt thanks to their friends and neighbors for their kind-ness during her long illness and at the funeral.18

oObitMarch 1888  In March 1888 the obituary of David Maybee read: On Wednesday morning, at the residence of Morris Brown in the township, David Maybee, aged 87 years. The funeral services took place at the shore chapel Thurday afternoon, Rev. P. J. Wright preaching the sermon.' The remains were afterward buried in the Burlingame burying ground.18

(Witness) Anecdotecirca 1872 Maybee was named for Abram Maybee, who, along with Joseph Klotz, surveyed, platted, and sold the land that became the village between 1873 and 1875. The village was incorporated in 1899. Spurred on by the railroad, the village grew to include a grain elevator, grist mill, stone quarry, sand pit, hotel, three churches, two schools, and several small factories and stores.[9] It is primarily an agricultural community. The grain elevator and quarry are still operating, along with several small businesses and restaurants.

The exact date is not known, but at least by 1850, the village of Maybee was a settlement in the township of Exeter. At that time, the Maybee settlement as it was called had one saw mill and one general store. Maybee was named after a gentlemen known as Abram Maybee. He was born in Medina, Ohio on June 6, 1835. His parents were Solomom Maybee and Charlotte (Doolittle) Maybee.
According to documentation the young boy known as Abram, came to Michigan with his parents in 1842.
Abram received 60 acres of his father's land "situated in Exeter" willed to him from his father. His father "Solomon died March 26, 1860". This land was later platted for the village of Maybee.
At the age of 30, Abram Maybee married Mary C. Moses on December 29, 1864. There were four children born to them. Three girls and a son. They also adopted another son.
At the age of thirty-nine years Abram Maybee and Joseph Klotz decided in 1873 to have the lands that they owned surveyed for a village. The Canada Southern Railway at this time was also being built through Maybee.
Abram and Joseph soon dealt in the business of selling village lots. They also owned a saw mill together according to the 1876 Atlas of Monroe County.
On January 6th and 7th, 1873, Delos F Wilcox surveyed the lands belonging to these two men. The land platted is part of Private Claims 352,495 and 274.
After this was done, Abram Maybee and Joseph Kloz, both dealt in the business of selling village lots. According to the 1876 Atlas of Monroe County, Abram and Joseph also owned a sawmill together.
According to the death notice of Abram, it was read that he built all of the first houses and a hotel.
In 1890 Abram Maybee retired, he was 56 years old. On Wednesday the 18th of May 1892 he died.
There were four children born to Abram and his wife. Adella, Elizabeth, George and Marilla. Abram Maybee and his wife also raised an adopted son named Seward.

oObitApril 1887  In April 1887 the obituary of Mary Nowlen read: Died on Wednesday, April 20th, Mrs. Mary Maybee, wife of David Maybee; at the residence of her son-in-law, Morris Brown, at the age of 81 years.
She had been a great sufferer for nearly nine years, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, being merely able to move herself without assistance. Her husband, who is still living, is 87 years of age. They were among the early 'pioneers of the county, settling here in 1847, and they were believed to be the oldest: living couple in the county.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Brown desire to express their heartfelt thanks to their friends and neighbors for their kind-ness during her long illness and at the funeral.14 
Burial* She was buried at Long Cemetery, Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan. Inscription "Mary M Maybee; Apr. 18, 1806; Apr. 20, 1887."15

First --I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mariah Maybee for and during her natural life or as long as she the said Mariah remains my widow my homestead where I now reside in Parish described in two deeds Viz.: One from George? Scirba and David Parish to Joseph Maybee dated the 25th March AD 1820 ... Said second deed executed by Richard Cleveland to Joseph Maybee the 20th day of October 1830 to have and to hould the use rents and profits of the above described two several pieces of land by paying the taxes thereon and performing the conditions hereinafter mentioned for and during her natural life or as long as she the said Mariah remains my widow. I also give and bequeath to my wife Mariah all and singular of my household furniture for and during her natural life or as long as the said Mariah remains my widow. I also give and bequeath all my farming tools farming tools to be and remain on the above described premises and all the stock on the said farm except one span of horses one lumber wagon and one set of harness one dray which is hereinafter disposed of
I further order and direct at my decease that my wife Mariah pay out of the above mentioned personal property One Hundred dollars to my daughter Almira wife of Warren Rulison.
I further order and direct that --my wife Mariah take care of and provide for my two daughters Viz.: Nancy Maybee and Alice Maybee during her the said Mariah natural life or as long as she remains my widow being the time that the said Mariah houlds and is to use and occupy my homestead as above mentioned to furnish my two above mentioned daughters with board clothing and all the necessaries of life in sickness and in health and to treat them kindly unless they or either of them shall marry and wish to leave home.
Second I give and bequeath to my two above named daughters Viz.: Nancy and Alice and to their and each of their heirs the above described two several pieces of land being my homestead as above stated at the decease of my wife Mariah or at the time she the said Mariah shall marry again to have and to hould the same and to their heirs each and singular to have one equal undivided half of the above described premises at the decease of my wife or at the time she shall marry again should she marry again.
I also give and bequeath to my two daughters Viz.: Nancy and Alice all the household furniture and stock conveyed to my wife Mariah at her decease or at the time she shall marry again provided she shall marry again each of them to wit: Nancy and Alice to have one equal undivided half of said personal property at the time above mentioned to wit: At the decease of my wife of when she shall marry again
Third I give and devise to my son Joseph and his heirs the hereinafter described piece of land to have and to hould the same to his heirs forever. being and containing 50 21/100 acres as described in a deed executed by the attorney of George Parish to Joseph Maybee executed the 8th day of December 1834. I also give and bequeath to my son Joseph Maybee one span of horses such as shall be on my farm at my decease also one two horse wagon and one set of two horse harness and one dray being the property mentioned and excepted above
Fourth I give and devise to my daughter Clarissa wife of Hurley Surgent and to her oldest heir two several pieces of land situate in the town of Parish and described in the two following deeds Viz.: 1st executed by Nathaniel Theis? to Joseph Maybee containing fifteen acres of land be the same more or less 2nd deed executed by William Parcels? to Joseph Maybee to have and to hould the above described premises to her own proper use and to her oldest heir living at my decease and the app____s thereunto belonging
Fifth I give and devise to my son Charles Maybee the following piece or parcel of land situate in the town of Parish in the County of Oswego being and supposed to contain 57? acres of land described as follows to wit: Bounded on the North by J. C Worn? and on the East by land owned by J Irish? and W. Coan one or both of them on the South by land owned by Milow Coan on the West by land owned by William Owen and being the premises formerly occupied by Peter Dinehart?--Provided always. this will or conveyance is made on the express condition that unless my son Charles returns to Parish (Supposed to be in California now) within ten years from my decease and take possession of the above last described piece of land then I hereby devise and direct the same to go to my son Joseph and to his heirs forever I further direct my Executor to let my son Joseph have the use and occupation of said above described piece of land by paying the taxes assessed thereon until my son Charles shall take possession of the same provided he the said Charles return within ten years of my decease if not then the said Joseph is to have the said land to have and to hould the same and his heirs forever
Sixth I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Sally wife of Horace Hays and to her heirs forever the hereinafter described two pieces of land situate in the town of Parish in the County of Oswego and State of New York described as follows to wit: Being the same described in a deed executed by Lester A Huntington? dated the 4th March 1853 to Joseph Maybee and acknowledged before Larry? Thayer a Justice of the Peace. in and for the County of Oswego the 22nd March 1853 being and containing ten acres of land to have and to hold the same and to her heirs forever. Amen: I Joseph Maybee of the town of Parish in the County of Oswego and State of New York of the age of sixty-six years and being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament--in manner following That is to say:
First --I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mariah Maybee for and during her natural life or as long as she the said Mariah remains my widow my homestead where I now reside in Parish described in two deeds Viz.: One from George? Scirba and David Parish to Joseph Maybee dated the 25th March AD 1820 ... Said second deed executed by Richard Cleveland to Joseph Maybee the 20th day of October 1830 to have and to hould the use rents and profits of the above described two several pieces of land by paying the taxes thereon and performing the conditions hereinafter mentioned for and during her natural life or as long as she the said Mariah remains my widow. I also give and bequeath to my wife Mariah all and singular of my household furniture for and during her natural life or as long as the said Mariah remains my widow. I also give and bequeath all my farming tools farming tools to be and remain on the above described premises and all the stock on the said farm except one span of horses one lumber wagon and one set of harness one dray which is hereinafter disposed of
I further order and direct at my decease that my wife Mariah pay out of the above mentioned personal property One Hundred dollars to my daughter Almira wife of Warren Rulison.
I further order and direct that --my wife Mariah take care of and provide for my two daughters Viz.: Nancy Maybee and Alice Maybee during her the said Mariah natural life or as long as she remains my widow being the time that the said Mariah houlds and is to use and occupy my homestead as above mentioned to furnish my two above mentioned daughters with board clothing and all the necessaries of life in sickness and in health and to treat them kindly unless they or either of them shall marry and wish to leave home.
Second I give and bequeath to my two above named daughters Viz.: Nancy and Alice and to their and each of their heirs the above described two several pieces of land being my homestead as above stated at the decease of my wife Mariah or at the time she the said Mariah shall marry again to have and to hould the same and to their heirs each and singular to have one equal undivided half of the above described premises at the decease of my wife or at the time she shall marry again should she marry again.

(Witness) oObit Rachel Mapes was mentioned in the obituary of Harriet Mapes at Mount Vernon, Washington; Miss Harriet C. Mapes, for years a resident of Skagit County died at the county hospital Wednesday evening at the age of 87. Miss Mapes was born in Erie County, New York on August ? 1848 and lived there until she moved to Cherry County, Nebraska in 1886. In 1910 she came to Mount Vernon and made her home with her niece, Mrs. Starr, where she stayed until 1932, through an unfortunate accident she broke her hip and was bedridden in the county hospital. Early in her life she became affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal faith and remained in her religious convictions to the day of her death. Mis Mapes is survived by her sister, Mrs, William Maybee, Route 5 and other distant relatives both here and in the East. Funeral Services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o clock from the Aaron Light Funeral parlors. Interment will be at a local cemetery.

oObit*  The obituary of Mary Jane Wixon read: Mrs. Mary J. Tyler, 98 resident of the Thumb district 86 years and mother of five generations, died Friday [3 May 1935] in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dancy Urie, 1305 Division St. The five generations are Mrs. Tyler, her daughter Mrs. Urie Mrs. Urie's daughter Mrs. Fannie Cooper, Detroit, Mrs. Cooper's daughter Mrs. Paul Richards and Her daughter Mill Ilene Richards, both of Port Huron.
Mrs. Tyler who would have been 99 years old on May 12, Mother's Day, had been in poor health several months.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Booth, Applegate, Mrs. Urie, a son George Tyler Los Angeles, Cal. A sister Mrs. Emma Ferris, Lincoln, Michigan 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday in the Urie residence. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, Carsonville.
Mrs. Tyler, daughter of James Wixon, early settler of Croswell was born May 12 1836 in Ontario. Her parents moved to New York State when she was 1 1/2 years old and moved to Croswell when she was 12 years old.
Mar 15 1854, Mrs. Tyler married James Maybee, who died April 26, 1856. Dec. 29 1859 she married Oren Tyler, a carpenter, who also operated a dray business in Applegate several years. He died Nov. 19 1903.7
