oObit20 February 1875  On 20 February 1875 at Chittenango, New York, the obituary of Albert Mabie read: Our village had but scarcely recovered from the shock produced by the sadden death of one of our most estimable citizens, Mr. Edward Root, before it was again startled by the sad intelligence of the decease of Albert Mabie, Esq., who died on Wednesday of last week, of typhoid pneumonia, after a brief illness. Mr. Mabie was born in Stone Arabia, Montgomery Co., March 18th, 1810. At nine years of age he moved to the town of Lenox, in this county where he resided eight years, and then went to Manlius Center, Onondaga Co., where he remained ten years. He subsequently moved to the town of Sullivan, this county, where he resided until his death, a period of nearly forty years .— In 1833 he married a daughter of Henry Ehle, Esq., who survives him. Mr. Mabie was a gentleman of kind and gentle disposition, an unobtrusive, unostentatious citizen, who had the confidence and respect of (he entire community. He was a man of sterling worth, of high moral character, strict integrity, sympathetic and charitable. He was, an upright conscientious man whose unexpected demise entails a loss upon the people with whom he lived. Notwithstanding the weather was extremely cold, on Sunday last, the funeral of was man was more largely attended than any other that we have witnessed since our residence in this place. The remains were taken in charge by the Masonic Fraternity, of which he had for many years been a faithful member. After a prayer at the house, by Rev. J . H. Enders the remains were conveyed to the Reformed church, where the services were to be held. The Baptist society gave up their usual
morning service and joined in showing their respect for the dead —their pastor, Rev. Ira Dennet, occupying the pulpit with Rev. Mr. Enders. The body of the church was filed to its utmost capacity, and many were seated in she gallery. Rev. Mr. Bennett, after the first hymn was sung, made an impressive prayer and read a chapter in thebible and gave out a hymn, when Rev. Mr.
Enders preached an able, appropriate and feeling sermon. After the close of the exercises, the viewing of the remains, the procession reformed and proceeded to Oakwood Cemetery, where the remains were consigned .to the grave with Masonic honors. Worshipful Master. A. H . Downer, performed the ceremonies and Past Master Hitchcock acted as Marshal.11
Burial* He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango, Madison County, New York. Inscription "Albert Mabie born in Palantine NY Mar. 28, 1810 died Feb. 11, 1875: Maria Ehle his wife Born."2,12

(Mentioned) oObit He was mentioned in the obituary of of Ann Eliza Coan ; Died, in this village, on July 22, 1897, Mrs. Ann Eliza Coan Davey. She was born in this town in 1832, and nearly all her life was a resident of this village.
In 1854 she married Mr. Joseph Kern. He entered the civil war and gave his life for his country, dying in 1853 (1863), leaving her with one son, Milo Kern, who is now a resident of South Dakota.
In 1881 she was united in marriage with Mr. Henry Davey of this place, and for sixteen years she was one in a home of plenty and happiness.
For over six months she was a great sufferer from persistent jaundice. Days would come when she and her friends would hope for recovery, but only to be followed by disappointment and great suffering. She bore all this with great resignation and Christian fortitude.
Converted in early life, she soon found a home in the Methodist Episcopal church of this place, to which society she brought the riches of an earnest, active, transparent and sincere character. It did not take long to find out on which side of any question of morals or Christian propriety Mrs. Davey was to be found. Her testimonies in prayer and class meetings, in which she was usually found, whl always given in deep humility and quietness, had in them the ring of prayerful convictions and unquestionable sincerity. Anxious for the prosperity of the church, often more anxious for the conversion of friend or acquaintance, she became a member which the church could ill (afford) to lose.
Her cheerful disposition found expression through a bright and radiant face that received a hearty welcome with all who knew her. A useful Christian life has gone from among us and no wishes of a kind husband, a loving son and brother, or faithful ministering of near friends could (undo) it. Gone to the great majority and the unseen glory, we say with saddened hearts, "farewell till life is o'er. W.H.H.6
