His illness covered a period of only a few weeks, and his condition was considered serious for but a few days prior to his death. The funeral was held at the church on Jan. 23d, with Masonic honors, as he had been a member of the Order for over fifty years; sermon by his pastor, the Rev. S. E. Sargeant; burial in the family lot. He is survived by his widow, two daughters (Miss Cora Mabey and Mrs. LeRoy France), one son (Edward), three grandchildren and one sister (Mrs. Warren Finch), all of this place, and one brother (G. H. Mabey of Oak Hill), besides a large circle of other relatives and friends, who mourn his loss.6 |

They moved to Iowa about 54 years ago and engaged in farming in Butler county, moving to Waterloo in 1888, where they had since made their home. Mr. Mabie is survived by widow, daughter, Mrs. F. E. Keeler, and grandson, Clifton Mabie Keeler, Oklahoma City; a brother Jacob Mabie and a sister, Mrs. Julia Rhoads, both of Crompton, Fla. The body is at Hileman & Gindt's funeral home pending funeral arrangements.10,11 |

Shank, 68, of Clearwater, Fla, former Berrien Springs councilman, died Sunday in Indianapolis, where he had been living for the last few months. He was born on Feb. 6, 1898, in LaGrange, Ind., and married Bertha Kenyon on July 31, 1920. She survives. The couple came to Berrien Springs in 1945 from South Bend, where they had lived since their marriage. He was the owner of Shank's Clothing Store, Berrien Spring, until 1958 when he retired. Mr. Shank also was the first president of the Berrien Springs Business Men's Assn. Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Paul McKinney of Indianapolis and Mrs. J. Patrick Doyle of Houston, Tex; a son, James of St. Joseph, Mich; two sisters and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the McLaughlin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. T.H. Bennink will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. Hold Services for William Shank, 68, Former Merchant Funeral services were conducted this afternoon, Wednesday, from the Mc Laughlin funeral home for William W. Shank, 68, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Berrien Springs. Mr. Shank died Sunday in Indianapolis, Ind., where he had spent the past few months at the home of a daughter. He was born Feb. 6, 1898, in La Grange, Ind., and was married July 31, 1920 in South Bend to Bertha Kinyon, who survives. They came to Berrien Springs from South Bend in 1945 and he operated a men's clothing store until his retirement in 1958. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Paul McKinney of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. J. Patrick Doyle of Houston, Tex; one son, James of St. Joseph, Mich; two sisters, Mrs Alex Bondow of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Cecil Rayle of Deshler, Ohio, and seven grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Methodist Church and the Lions club of Casselbery, Fla., and a former member of the Berrien Springs Lion club and Methodist church, of village council, and first president of the Berrien Springs Businessmen's association. Rev. T.H. Bennink of the Methodist church conducted the service and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
