Herbert Mabie, passed away early Tuesday morning at her late home after a long, painful illness. Her funeral was largely attended Thursday afternoon from the Christian church of which she was a faithful member and teacher in the Sunday school when her illness began. Her, pastor, the Rev. Myron Tripp, officiated and interment took place in the local cemetery. Bearers were the three sons of the deceased, Herbert, Jr., Frank and Frederick, her two son-in-laws, Elliott Brodie, James Webster and Fred Snyderi She-was born fifty-seven years ago at Mead, Washington and came here when very young. She was the daughter of the late John and Luella Shilletto. She was a graduate of Cooperstown, High school and Schenevus Teachers' Training class and taught five years prior to her marriage in 1912 to E. Herbert Mabie, who survives her; also five children, five grandchildren, an aunt, Mrs. Nellie Shilletto, Oneonta and an uncle, William Michaels, Cooperstown, besides a host of: friends who extend sincere sympathy to the. bereaved family.5 |

He was born in South Valley on April 29, 1924, the son of Ronald S. and Madge (Folmsbee) Webster. In November 1942, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until October 1945 in the 409th AAF Base Unit. He returned from Europe after V-Day July 1945, and married Myra Ruth Mabie on Aug. 6, 1945, at Perth. He was honorably discharged with a rank of technical sergeant on Oct. 8, 1945. He and his wife started out married life living in Cherry Valley, where he worked at Glensfoot Farm. In October 1950, they moved to Unadilla, where he worked at Scintilla. In August 1952, he and his family moved to Mail Hill, South Valley, where he was a farmer until May 1969. After farming 1970, he worked for the Otsego County Highway Department, Cooperstown, as a truck driver. He retired from the county in 1986. In 1973, he and his wife moved to a home in Cherry Valley, where he grew and sold strawberries for several years. Mr. Webster was active in Farm Bureau, Extension Service and administered programs for the ASC office in Cooperstown, and served as supervisor of the town of Roseboom. He was an active member of Whiteman, Hall, Snyder Legion in Cherry Valley and maintained contact with some of his war comrades via of being an active member of the 409th Bomb Squadron. He was a member of the First Christian Church, South Valley. Survivors include his wife, Myra Mabie Webster of Cherry Valley; two daughters, Suzanne Tompson of Cherry Valley and Rebecca Lofstrom of Fort Plain; two sons, James Jr. of Austin, Texas, and David of Princess Anne, Md; grandchildren, Michael and Ronald Clapper and Matthew, Madeline, Miranda and Sarena Webster; stepgrandchildren, Kerry, Aaron and Caleb Lofstrom. He was predeceased by a sister, Avis Huntington; and three brothers, Ronald Jr., Stanley and Edward. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Alan Miller officiating. Burial will be in the South Valley Cemetery at a later date.3 |

He was the devoted father of Stephanie (John Wimmer) Mabie and Kimberly Cirigliano. He was the loving brother of Larry (Patty) Mabie, Patti (Dan) Gustafson. Rodney (Cindy) Mabie and Rickke (Michelle) Mabie. Gary was the cherished grandfather of DanaiRose Cirigliano. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held on Wednesday. June 3, 2009 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home. Interment was in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.2 |

Mabie, 56, of Carlisle Road, died peacefully Saturday evening, December 26, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany following a long, courageous battle with complications from Diabetes. He was born in Oneonta, N.Y., October 21, 1953, a son of the late Frederick and Norma (Edwards) Mabie. Larry was a life resident of the area and was a 1972 graduate of Canajoharie High School. He then obtained his degree in culinary arts at SUNY Cobleskill. He was united in marriage on April 19, 1975, at St. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Canajoharie to the former Patricia L. Damico of Canajoharie. Larry worked in the Maintenance Dept. at Beech-Nut for over 32 years, retiring in 2005, and was also the former owner and operator of M&M Lawn Service in Canajoharie for more than 30 years. He was a 20-plus year member of the Canajoharie Vol. Fire Dept., as well as being a member of the Moose Lodge in Canajoharie, the Eagles and the Canajoharie Fish and Game Club. Larry had a deep passion for hunting and also enjoyed bowling and snowmobile riding. His loving family includes: his wife of nearly 35 years, Patricia "Patty" Mabie of Canajoharie; his son, Brian "Bubba" Mabie, and wife, Kathy, of Canajoharie; his daughter, Katie Bertani, and husband, Richard, of Saratoga; his brothers, Rodney Mabie and wife Cindy, of Palatine Bridge and Rickke Mabie and wife, Michelle, of Gansevoort; his sister, Patti Gustafson, and husband, Dan, of Roseboom; and his grandchildren, Abbigail Rose Bertani, Athena, Apostolos, Kalliope and Katerina Tsampasis, Brandon and Kimberly Swezey, Dawn Fridenberger and Brad Ramsdell. Five great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog, Buffy, also survive. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by two brothers, Perry and Gary Mabie. Prayer Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Fr. James E. Clark, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m.t the funeral home.
