oObit*20 March 1918  On 20 March 1918 at Adams County, Iowa, the obituary of Lyman Thomas Maybee read: Lyman Thomas Maybee died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Lydia Hunter, in Carbon, Wednesday, March 13, 1918. He was aged 83 years and 2 months. Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church in Carbon, Friday, the 15th of March, conducted by a Free Methodist minister from out of town. Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quincy. Mr Maybee is survived by two daughters, Mrs Hunter, with whom he made his home, and Mrs Amanda Dhone, and a son, Albert Maybee of Corning.14

Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quincy. Mr Maybee is survived by two daughters, Mrs Hunter, with whom he made his home, and Mrs Amanda Dhone, and a son, Albert Maybee of Corning.15

oObit*1 October 1913  On 1 October 1913 at Adams County, Iowa, the obituary of Delilah Maybee read: The remains of Mrs. Delilah Maybee Sumner were brought to Corning from Clarinda last Saturday. The lady died in Clarinda September 25th at the home of her son, Sherman Gay. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in this city Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.W. Taylor and burial was made in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sumner was born in Scott County, Pennsylvania July 3, 1857. She was married to E.W. Gay July 21, 1881 and to them six children were born, four of whom are now living. They are Mrs. Rebecca Dillon and Mrs. Martha See of Clarinda, Albert Gay of Carbon, and Sherman Gay of Clarinda. E.W. Gay died in Corning May 11, 1901 and in October 1906, Mrs. Gay was married to Sylvester Sumner, who survives her, being a resident of Nodaway.2
