She was born October 23, 1930, in Jerome Idaho to Edward and Clois Owens into a family of 15 children, Carla was number 7. Upon returning from her mission, she moved back in with her parents, who had since moved to Boise. While living in Boise, she began working for a local grocery store and snack bar. Eventually Carla was hired back on with the telephone company in accounting and billing. Carla met her husband Glenn R Mabey on a blind date arranged by her brother and sister-in-law. Glenn and Carla married in 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple. After 4 years, they welcomed their first of five children, 3 boys and 2 girls. Glenn Mabey (Jr) (deceased) Ruth Mabey Close(deceased) Afton (Douglas) Gunter (Syracuse Ut) Nathan Mabey (Meridian Id) Evan Mabey (Boise Id). After 15 years of marriage Glenn and Carla divorced and Carla returned to the workforce to provide for her children. Her first job was working for American greeting card co. and throwing early morning newspaper routes with her daughter. After this, she went to work for the women's clinic as a technologist, and then eventually ended up working for St. Lukes hospital in their central processing dept. Where she would eventually retire from in 1992. Even after retirement, Carla continued working for multi care doing companion care and also did housekeeping well into her 80's. While at St Lukes Carla chose to work nights, that way she could always attend her church meetings, even if it meant no sleep. Carla's testimony and dedication to the Lord and his gospel has been unshakable. She loves the Lord with all her heart. This is what has sustained her throughout her life and difficult trials. She has always known that he would be there for her. Her greatest joy was serving in church callings. After moving in with her daughter, Carla discovered google and satellite radio and then her list grew to include Elvis's gospel music and lots of Doris Day. Carla lived her life as a positive influence in the world. She loved making bread, rocky road fudge, and cookies for her neighbors and often her medical staff and various friends and family as well. She loved washing dishes by hand and being a prankster, she was a friend to all and loved visiting with just anyone she came across. Carla is survived by 3 of her 5 children and one brother Arlys Owens of Bremerton Wa. Afton's 10 children Emrick Hansen, Ian (Arissa) Hansen, Breagor (Lauren) Hansen, Kenyon (Halle) Hansen, McCaslin Hixon, Tage (Jessica) Hansen, Dax Hansen, Jamen Hansen, Angel Highfill, Tyler Johnson and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter and one son, 13 siblings and her parents. What a beautiful reunion awaited her as she completed her mortal journey.
